What to Expect from Your Surf Lesson

GO Surf School is committed to teaching you the essential skills of surfing while making the experience fun and engaging. Whether you’re a beginner or an intermediate surfer, our lessons focus on understanding ocean conditions, surf safety, and building confidence on the waves. We’ll have you up and riding in no time!

Lesson Breakdown

• Arrival: Arrive at the beach at your designated start time, dressed in your swimwear.
• Introduction: Meet your instructor, who will provide you with your wetsuit and surfboard.
• Beach Instruction: Start with technique training and surf safety instruction on the beach. We focus on getting the basics right before heading into the water.
• Surf Session: Enter the water at waist-depth, where our surf coaches will assist you with catching waves, offer technique feedback, and ensure your safety. You’ll have plenty of time to practice, improve, and have fun!
• Feedback: About 15 minutes before the lesson ends, surfers will exit the water for a brief feedback session, where your coach will provide personalized goals for your next surf lesson.

What’s Provided

• Surfboards: We supply all the necessary equipment, including soft, stable boards that are easy to balance on and perfect for beginner and intermediate surfers.
• Wetsuits & Rash Vests: We provide high-quality Rip Curl, Billabong, and Quiksilver wetsuits for warmth and comfort. Our colored rash vests make it easy to spot you in the water.

What to Bring

• Swimwear: Wear your swimsuit or board shorts to the beach.
• Towel & Sunscreen: Don’t forget to protect yourself from the sun and bring a towel to dry off after your lesson.
• Camera: Capture the fun and excitement of your surf experience with GO Surf School.

• Summer School Holidays (27 Dec – End Jan): Meet at the grassed car park at the corner of Ritchie St., Beach St., and Hanley Crt.
• Rest of the Year: Head to the toilet block on Beach Street, just past the SLSC at East Beach.
