PRIVATE GROUP & FAMILY SURF LESSONS – Port Fairy

Looking for safe and fun activities for family and friends? Get out into the fresh air and sea with our private surf lessons in Port Fairy. Bring up to 2 people for a 1.5-hour private lesson for just $250.

In light of the current COVID-19 situation, GO Surf School now offers private group and family surf lessons and SUP lessons. Enjoy surfing classes without mingling with other groups.

Safety and Hygiene

In accordance with current advice, GO Surf ensures that staff and participants maintain high standards of cleanliness and personal hygiene. All equipment is thoroughly disinfected between lessons. Your health is our top priority. Any bookings canceled due to COVID-19 government regulations that cannot be rescheduled will receive a full refund.

The Lesson

GO Surf School will teach you the skills of surfing and how to handle yourself and your surfboard in the ocean while having a stack of fun. Beginner and intermediate surfers will learn to assess surf conditions and identify potential risks. Our instructors are there to help you learn to surf and provide advice on all surfing-related questions. We hope you’ll love surfing as much as we do. We’ll get you up and riding in no time!

What to Expect

• Arrival: Roll up at the beach at your start time with your swimwear on.
• Introduction: Your coach will introduce themselves and get you sorted with a wetsuit and surfboard hire.
• Beach Instruction: Start with beach-based technique training and surf safety information. We emphasize getting it right on the beach to prepare you for hitting the waves.
• Surf Session: Enter the surf in waist-deep water with waves suitable for your ability. Our surf coaches will help you get up and riding by pushing you into waves, giving feedback on your technique, ensuring your safety, and maximizing your fun.
• Feedback: Surfers will leave the water approximately 15 minutes before the lesson ends for a feedback session with goals for your next surf lesson.

What is Provided

• Equipment: All equipment is provided, including surfboards suited to your abilities. We use the best equipment available, specifically produced for surf schools. Our soft, stable boards are easy to balance, paddle, stand, and surf on for both intermediate and beginner surfers.
• Wetsuits and Rash Vests: Quality Rip Curl, Billabong, and Quiksilver wetsuits will keep you warm, and our colored GO Surf School rash vests make it easy to identify you in the water.

What to Bring

Surfers need to wear a swimsuit or boardies and bring a towel and plenty of sunscreen. Don’t forget a camera to document the fun you’ll have with your GO Surf surf lesson!

Port Fairy Location

• Summer School Holidays (27 Dec – End Jan): Meet on the grassed car park area at the corner of Ritchie St., Beach St., and Hanley Crt.
• Rest of the Year: Meet at the toilet block on Beach Street (just past SLSC), East Beach.
